The film was exhibited at the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois last week and collected Best Actor (Oli Reynolds) in two categories and was given honours in the Film Drama and Supergrab Bag categories.
Much of the film was shot in the South of England, mainly in Brighton and Sussex.
The film picked up four wins at the Los Angeles Film Festival Awards earlier in the summer, for Best Editing (Pete Hills), Supporting Actor (Louisa Nairne), Under 18 Actor (Isabelle Allen) and Best Director. Matthew said: “It was such a honour to bring to life characters that I used to follow in the comics when I was a child. I’ll never forget shooting on location with a full prosthetic monster/actor and seeing kids react in amazement.”
Former Les Miserables star, Isabelle Allen, said: “This is the second film I have worked on with Matt. Working with him again was great fun and a real pleasure. He is such a nice guy and so relaxed that the experience is very natural. The most exciting part for me was getting to play a character in the world of Superman that represents hope – which is really what Superboy is all about.”
