Today’s world can often seem bleak; sadly, pessimism abounds in the news with events such as Brexit dominating the headlines. ‘Odilo Fabian’ was written as a response to this pessimism. It’s about finding and maintaining hope even in the face of insurmountable odds. It spoke personally to us about the importance of perseverance and dedication, which is something that we think all filmmakers can identify with.
‘Odilo Fabian’ may be a fantasy, but it’s underpinned by real life concerns. It’s not about escaping reality through fantasy, but rather about using fantasy to illuminate everyday life.
Ultimately, by telling this story of a sick girl who rediscovers hope in difficult circumstances, we hoped to inspire people to keep on going. We wanted to remind them of the power of wishes, the importance of having a dream, and the sheer joy of smiling no matter what life throws your way.
The film is also a supporter of the Chestnut Tree House Charity, a children’s hospice for Sussex, Brighton and South East Hampshire caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age. The charity has similar values towards sick and terminal children. Please visit their website by following this link www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk
